Author Guidelines

The Current Retina Journal continues its publication activities by accepting manuscripts written in English. Turkish manuscripts were accepted for articles published before 2027.

The Current Retina Journal (Güncel Retina Dergisi) charges no submission or manuscript processing fee.

Manuscripts should be prepared using Microsoft Word, size A4 with 2.5 cm margins on all sides, 11 pt Arial font, and 1.5 line spacing. Abbreviations should be defined at first mention and used consistently thereafter. Manuscripts must be prepared in accordance with academic writing principles, language rules, and the journal’s author guidelines.

Text(s) and table(s) should be prepared in MS Word format, and graphic(s), and picture(s) should preferably be in JPEG format (minimum 300 DPI). It is also possible to upload figures to the system by placing them in a single-word document.

Articles to be sent to the journal should be sent after the e-mail invitation. Manuscript submission levels must be completed in full. This system enables online submission and evaluation of the manuscript. The manuscripts collected via this way are accepted by the system according to the rules of ICMJE, PubMed, and Ulakbim-Turkey Citation Index and archived. Online article submission guidelines are given in the “Author guidelines” section.

h- References: Authors are responsible for the accuracy of the references. References should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they are first mentioned in the text. References should be indicated in red color and as a “superscript” immediately after the period/full stop of the relevant sentence. If more than one reference is pointing to the same opinion, the consecutive references should be separated with “-”, if the references are not consecutive each one should be separated with “,”. If the author(s) of a reference is/are indicated at the beginning of the sentence, this reference should be written as a superscript immediately after the author’s name. The journal names should be abbreviated as in “Index Medicus”. The use of relevant Turkiye-based references is also recommended.

The Current Retina Journal (Güncel Retina Dergisi) has started to use the American Medical Association (AMA) citation style for the display of references as of 2024.

Each reference should be cited within the text using superscript Arabic numerals (e.g. 1, 2, 3…). Multiple references may be cited in the same example. If sequential references are cited, they should be indicated with a hyphen (-). Non-sequential sources sholuld be separated by commas. There should be no spaces between numbers. References should be listed at the end of the article under the title "References" and each source should be listed numerically, not alphabetically. The format of author names should be "Surname1 AB, Surname2 CD, ...". There sholuld be a comma between each full name; However, each name must not contain any punctuation marks. If a reference had up to six authors, all of them must be included. If there are more than six authors, the first three should be written, followed by "et al." Then, the name of the article (only the first letter of the sentence and the first letter of the special names will be capitalized), the short journal name, year, volume, issue number, and page number should be added. The journal name should be written in italics and a point should be placed at the end. In the reference section, the DOI (Digital Object Identifier) number of the related article should be provided at the end of each reference. The format used for manuscript submission should be as specified in Index Medicus (www.icmje.org).
